Krispy Kreme throughout the World Today:
The brand of Krispy Kreme has grown throughout the years not only in the United States, but also in areas throughout the world. Many people might wonder why it took the brand so long to not only branch out of the south, but out of the United States. “Its international locations include Australia, the UK, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Ethiopia and Bahrain” (Sun, 2010). “When Krispy Kreme expanded for the first time out of North America to Australia, they received the same response from Australians. Some of Sydney’s most excited customers camped overnight in anticipation of the opening for their first Krispy Kreme hot doughnut experience” (Krispy Kreme Announces Record Breaking Opening, 2003).
Still today, Krispy Kreme is expanding their empire throughout the world, but has slowed down since the recession hit the economy in 2008. In addition, competition from Dunkin Doughnuts has slowed down the company branching out. For example Krispy Kreme had “its Hong Kong locations closed in 2008 due to a lack of business and stiff competition from Dunkin’ Donuts” (Sun, 2010). However, franchises outside the United States have changed some of the traditional marketing concepts. For example, in Mexico there are actually commercials advertising for Krispy Kreme.
